Barbara Averell Obituary

Barbara Catherine (Wolff) Averell peacefully entered eternal life at home on Saturday December 20, 2025. Born April 24, 1944 in Media, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Donald Kenneth and Catherine Mary (Cameron) Wolff.

Barbara was a 1962 graduate of Belvidere High School in Belvidere, New Jersey. She attended the Philadelphia School of Medical Technology and became a certified Medical Technologist. She married Robert B. Averell on February 25, 1965, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Charlotte.

Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother whose kindness, love, strength and quiet generosity shaped the lives of her two daughters and two granddaughters. She will be profoundly missed and forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.

Surviving is her loving husband Robert Barclay Averell; two daughters: Cathy Averell and her partner Jamie Strickland of Concord, North Carolina and Valerie Luczak and her husband Paul Luczak of Charlotte, North Carolina; her granddaughters, Courtney Luczak of Armonk, New York and Allison Luczak of Charlotte, North Carolina; her brother. Kenneth Wolff and wife Dorothy, Cedar Grove, New Jersey. She was predeceased by a son Barclay, who died at childbirth in February 1969.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m., December 26, 2025 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery East in Weddington, North Carolina in the Garden of St. Matthew.
