Joan H. Fratezi, 78, of Belvidere, New Jersey, passed away on December 9, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Warren Campus. She was born on December 3, 1947, in Easton, Pennsylvania, to the late Armando Fratezi and Salena DeMatteo Fratezi.
Joan was a graduate of Belvidere High School and Churchman’s Business College. She later earned her bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from Centenary College in Hackettstown, New Jersey. She dedicated many years of her professional life to Hoffman-LaRoche, later known as DSM, where she worked as a procurement coordinator.
Deeply committed to her community, Joan served with the Oxford Emergency Squad for 22 years, including as president from 2015 to 2022. She was also a member of the Mountain Lake Fire Department and the Warren County Fire Police. A woman of strong faith, she served as a deacon at the Belvidere United Presbyterian Church. In addition to her emergency service roles, Joan shared her knowledge by teaching CPR, Standard First Aid, and Advanced First Aid. She truly cherished being part of groups that worked together to help others, finding purpose and fulfillment in serving her neighbors and community.
Joan enjoyed watching Westerns—especially Laramie—and loved spending time at the gun range practicing. She was a member of the Hope 55 and Older Club and often participated in day trips through the AARP program. In her earlier years, she was also a very good softball player, known for hitting a softball a country mile, a talent fondly remembered by those who saw her play. Her athletic spirit carried into her later passions, where she found joy in camaraderie and in contributing to causes larger than herself.
She is survived by her brother, Bruce Fratezi, and his wife, Elisabeth, as well as her beloved rescue dog, Duke. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by her brother, Armando Fratezi, Jr., who passed in 2019.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Warren Hills Memorial Home, 234 West Washington Avenue, Washington, New Jersey, 07882. A service celebrating Joan’s life will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Belvidere Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Belvidere.
