Barbara June Ayers Anglin, 90, of Phipps Creek Road peacefully went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 13, 2025 while at home.
A native of Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Annice Greene Shepherd. June was the wife of the late John Robert "Bob" Anglin for 67 years, and she is survived by her loving children, Daughters: Debbie Anglin of Burnsville, and Kathy Pittman and her husband Ronnie of Candler, Sons: Willie "Ronnie" Anglin and his wife Joyce of Burnsville, Granddaughters: Anaweg Wilson and her husband Bucky of Burnsville, Penny Mashburn and her husband Josh of Canton, and Katie Ethridge and her husband Ryan of Raleigh, Grandsons: Willie Walkingstick of Spruce Pine, Willie "Ray" Anglin and his wife Amelia of Burnsville and John Anglin and his wife Marie of Burnsville, Sister Peggy Buckner of Johnson City, TN, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Additionally, she is preceded in death by daughter Beverly Mitchell, son Steve Anglin, granddaughter Candy Pittman, sisters, Nadine Taub, Deloise Ledford, Billie Jean Tomberlin, brothers, J.C. Ayers, Bobby Ayers and Boyd Ayers.
Known by many as "Mama June", she was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her, having never met a stranger due to her incredible talent of conversation. Her cooking was delicious, whether it was her creamed corn, canned beans or famous butterscotch or chocolate pies, and she always took time to call and wish her family and friends "Happy Birthday". Those who knew her count it a privilege and she will be deeply missed by all.
June was a member of Cane River Baptist Church for over 70 years, where she deeply cherished her time with the Women's Group, and attended The Gathering Place.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, June 16 at Cane River Baptist Church. Pastor Ronnie Pittman and Reverend John Anglin will officiate. Burial will follow at the Cane River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm, prior to the service at Cane River Baptist Church.
