Barbara Showalter Bailey

BAILEY, Barbara Showalter, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Midlothian, Virginia, on October 12, 2022. She was born in Morristown, N.J., on December 3, 1929. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her devoted husband of 66 years, London Bailey; her parents, George and Elizabeth Showalter; and her daughter, Susan Wells (Randy). She is survived by her sister, Joan Kelaher; her daughter, Terry Burton (David); her sons, Thomas Bailey (Susan), Jack Bailey (Bonnie) and Bruce Bailey; and numerous nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. For more than two decades, Barbara was an active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Powhatan, Va. She loved to play bridge and bowled on a bowling team until the age of 92. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara had an unquenchable zest for life, a sparkling sense of humor and enjoyed the lively company of her many friends and family. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. We wish to give a special thanks to her hospice caregivers who provided for her during her last days.
