Barbara Sue Bailey

Barbara Sue Bailey, 77, of Osceola, IN went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 1, 2026 at Elkhart General Hospital, her family was by her side. Barb was born on February 26, 1948 to Olen and Beulah Adams in Lake City, AR. She married Lyle Bailey on November 14, 1970 at Bristol Methodist Church.

Barb graduated from Penn High School in Mishawaka, IN, class of 1965. She worked for over 26 years at CTS and for the United States Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for over 30 years. She and her husband Lyle attend Grace Brethren Church in Mishawaka, IN. Together they have spent many years camping and riding in their dune buggy at the Dunes. Barb enjoyed having beautiful flowers in her yard and going to Lake Michigan to see the light houses. Barb enjoyed spending time with her former co-workers at Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, and she was the #1 hockey fan for her grandson and granddaughter. Most of all she loved to spend time with her family and friends. Barb will be sadly missed.

Barb is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lyle Bailey; children Timothy Boskey of Osceola, IN, Brooke (Jason) Shumaker of Mishawaka, IN, Pamela Cudney of Fayette, MO, Patricia Taylor of Lebanon, IN and Michael (Diann) Bailey of Elkhart, IN her grandchildren, Sara Jonker, Lisa Scarborough, Jeremy Cudney, Gracie Cudney, Bart (Brianna) Taylor, Jr., Adam Taylor, Brittney (Ryan) Sheperd, Brian (Ashley) Bailey, Amber (Tony) Cook, Amanda (Alex) Evans, Chyvon (Justin) Lee, Eli Shumaker, Lani Shumaker and 25 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Olene Ledgewood, Shirley (Wayne) Taber, Phyllis (James) Lancaster, William Adams and Terry (Terri) Adams and her brother-in-law Lonnie "Joe" Brown. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, sister Delene Brown and her nephew, Todd Adams and nieces Dewana Brown and Christine McKelvey.

Visitation will be held from 3-7 pm on Monday, January 5,2026 at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart, IN 46514 Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 at Grace Brethren Church, 1715 East Day Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545 where additional visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Pastor Davy Troxel will officiate. Barb will be laid at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
