Barbara Baughn

Barbara Suzanne Baughn, born December 8, 1946 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on December 6, 2025, surrounded by family at Michigan Medicine.
Barb was a joyful, creative spirit with a deep love for crafting and cooking. She poured her heart into beautiful handmade cards, holiday projects, and baking - most famously, her beloved chocolate-covered caramel pretzel sticks and the annual Christmas cookie tins that friends and family looked forward to every year.
Known to her grandchildren and their friends as "Gigi", Barb had a signature streak of sass that made her company unforgettable. She treasured her family above all and found meaningful companionship in her close-knit circle of friends and her faith community.
Her early schooling was in Canada, where her family moved for her father's job with AVRO. The family came back to Ann Arbor after her father's passing, where she finished her education.
One of her first jobs was as an inventory warehouse assistant at Jacobsen's, later working as an outpatient medical biller at Michigan Medicine and a private clinic in the Reichert building. Even as she faced significant health challenges, including breast cancer and a liver transplant, she remained optimistic and spirited, always grateful to spend time with loved ones. She will be remembered for her willingness to help and befriend others.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents Edward Bragg and Suzanne Schomburg, her brother Gerry, and nephew Robbie. She is survived by her brothers Teddy (Elyse) and Billy; her son John Jr and daughter-in-law Susan; and her cherished grandchildren Erin (Logan) Pyne, John III (Sophia), and Nat; and many other relatives too numerous to list.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Nie Family Funeral Home on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1385 Green Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48105 starting at 11:00am.
