The Lord came and took the precious, loving soul of Barbara Ann Bocon on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital where she was surrounded by those who loved her.
Barbara was born in Hartford on September 18, 1959, daughter of Stanley and Marion (Vogt) Bocon, Sr. A proud graduate of Torrington High School, Barbara spent most of her life living in the area and felt a strong connection to her community. Barbara enjoyed sharing stories of her times living in Torrington, working at Pizza Hut and Winsted Community College. An independent woman with a zest for life, Barbara faced challenges head on, including her courageous battle with kidney disease that served as an inspiration to those around her. Barbara would return home from her dialysis treatments and always tell her caregivers that she had a “great day” and she “loved going there”. Despite the many challenges Barbara faced, her passion for life and outgoing nature attracted people to Barbara. She loved life, animals of all kinds, listening to music and writing cards and letters to her many friends. Barbara will be missed by many, most especially her beloved guardian, Susan Jason, her housemates and caregivers at Oak Hill, Blessed Hands and DaVita in Torrington who were all so blessed to have known and loved her. Memories of Barbara and the joy and laughter that surrounded her will remain with those that loved her forever.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, January 12 at the Dunn Funeral Home, 191 West Street, Bristol CT.
