Barbara Louise Bodman, whose smile was always bright and sense of humor always evident, went to be with the Lord on January 9, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on September 21, 1944, in
Johnson City, New York, to the late Charles T. Warner and Margaret 'June' Fundis, Barbara spent her early years in New York. During high school her family moved to
San Jose, CA, where she graduated from Pioneer High School in 1962. Afterwards she worked as a medical assistant for an allergist for ten years. When her beloved son, Alan E. Bodman, Jr., was born she left the workforce to become a full-time mom.
Family and friends were the cornerstone of Barbara's existence. She loved them deeply and was generous to all. She and her sister, Carolyn, were very close and shared many good times over the years. Barbara's interests were simple yet profound, finding joy in the laughter of a good joke, the pleasure of a meal shared with friends, and shopping for bargains. Barbara loved attending church services at Central Church and attending the Primetimers dinners and musical events there.
Her last three years were spent at Brightmore of South Charlotte in independent living. A daily event was gathering with her friends in the common afternoon prior to dinner just to talk, laugh and fellowship. She loved the Saturday night concerts there. The wonderful staff at Brightmore brought her joy, everyone from the front desk staff, Joy in the Cafe, the dining room staff and the cleaning crew. Her spirit of fellowship was always on display.
Barbara is survived by her son, Alan E. Bodman, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Esther Bodman both of
Indian Trail, NC; brother-in-law, Rick Hudson of Auburn, GA; niece, Paula Castongia, and nephew, Logan Torrence both of Albany, GA; and several great-nieces and nephews of Albany and Watkinsville, GA.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 15 years, Alan Edward Bodman, Sr.; and sister, Carolyn June Hudson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Central Church.
