Donna Bodman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel on Jan. 30, 2026.
Donna J. Bodman, 87, of Marion, Ohio, went to be with the Lord and was reunited with her beloved husband, John, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at the Meadows of Marion following an extended illness.

On November 25, 1938, Donna was born in Marion, Ohio, the third of five children of the late Donald Conroy and Jean (Samples) Conroy Parker. A lifelong resident of Marion, Donna graduated from Marion Harding High School with the Class of 1956.

While attending school and after graduation, Donna worked for Marion Power Shovel and Columbia Gas. It was at Marion Power Shovel where she met the love of her life, John J. Bodman. The two were married shortly thereafter on May 15, 1958, at the Denmark United Methodist Church. Together they shared seventeen years of marriage and were blessed with two daughters, Julie and Amie. John passed very unexpectedly on February 25, 1976, and Donna had missed him every day since.

A devoted homemaker, Donna took great pride in caring for her husband and daughters. After John's untimely passing, she cherished her most important role-being "Mom" to Julie and Amie.

Very faithful, Donna was an active member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She lovingly helped with the many meals provided by the church and made hundreds of dozens of the church's treasured Aunt Gertie Cookies over the years. She also faithfully volunteered her time for the church newsletter.

An avid bicyclist, Donna loved to ride for miles and miles, wearing out several sets of bicycle tires each year. She even completed the Marion Popcorn Festival 100-mile ride, traveling from Marion to the Columbus Zoo and back.

Blessed with a green thumb, Donna found joy outdoors, tending to the flowers she planted each year. She also loved spending time in her garage. Some of her favorite hobbies included baking, scrapbooking, and making fleece blankets to donate. Never short for words, Donna delighted in long phone calls with her many friends, often for hours at a time.

Above all, Donna had a heart of gold and overflowed with love for her daughters, son-in-laws, grandchildren, family, and friends.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Julie (Eric) Shirk of Marion and Amie (Michael) Matosky of Westerville; two grandchildren, Morgan Shirk and Dimitria "Dimi" Revmatas; a sister, Elaine Renn of Marion; a brother-in-law, Barney Conway of Boulder, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Donna was preceded in death by her brother, David Conroy; sister, Sally Conway; step-brother, Albert Haines; and brother-in-law, Richard Renn.

Her family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E. Church St., Marion. Services honoring her life will follow there at Noon, with her dear friend, Kathy Swanger, officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

On behalf of her family, they would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the Meadows of Marion, especially the nursing staff on the 600 Hall and Zona. They are also grateful to Heartland Hospice for their tender care of Donna in her final weeks and days.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Donna made moving into the neighborhood easy with her frequent greetings from the kitchen window. Through the years, we shared many conversations, and her love for her family was repeated in every one of them. She loved your dad and spoke of him frequently. Paula
