Norfolk: Barbara Pierce Bond, 90, peacefully passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025' at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 2, from 2 to 4 pm, and Thursday, July 3, 10 to 11 am at Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid, with funeral service at 11:00 am on Thursday. Burial will be at White Church Cemetery, Lisbon, immediately following the service.
Born October 28, 1934, to Orlo and Mildred (Dart) Childs, Barbara grew up in Kendrew, Dekalb and Rensselaer Falls, graduating from Canton High School in 1952. She married Erwin Pierce in 1953. They made their home in Chipman for over 50 years before his passing in 2004. Barbara married Walter Bond in 2006, moving to Norfolk at that time. Walter passed away in 2021.
Barbara is survived by her children Gail (Terry) Rookey, Madrid, Duane (Kimberly) Pierce, Canton, Sharon (Robert) Pinkerton, Canton, and Gary Pierce (Camille Cristaldi), Long Lake; her grandchildren Heather Rookey, Kevin Pierce, Jeremy Pierce, and Jessica Rowe, and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Walt's children John Hicks, Norwood, Michael Hicks, Norwood, and Terrie (Darren) Taylor, Norfolk, and their families. Survivors also include sisters-in-law Frances Pierce, Cathy Pierce, and Judy (Richard) Hebert, all of Waddington, and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends.
Barbara was a member of the Norfolk Wesleyan Church and several Senior Citizen groups in St. Lawrence County. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing Bingo, cards, attending social gatherings, and traveling. She and Walter traveled all over the United States, Canada and Europe including Portugal, Spain, England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany and Turkey.
