Barbara was one of the first people I met in our wine group, she generously offered the club house for my daughter's engagement party. She was a woman who made a great impression on me and I remember saying that I would love to be as fun and loving as she was.. when I heard the news today, I was truly heartbroken. My sincere condolences to your whole family. She will be missed. Godspeed.

I am so shocked and saddened just now hearing about Barbara. I am so sorry for your loss and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. She was one of the most special people I knew in high school and never hesitated to take me along on the teenage milestones of my first job and driving her VW stick shift! Having lived in Maryland for so long, I did not see her much since school, but I have never forgotten her infectious smile and bubbly personality. My deepest sympathies to all of Barbara's family.

I was blessed to encounter Barbara and Harry as they helped a family that was struck by a terrible tragedy. Barbara made the world a better place by her kindness. My prayers will continue for Harry and the rest of the family.

Barbara & I were high school classmates, and I am so very saddened to hear the news of her death. I remember Barbara as such a warm and cheerful person with a beautifully contagious smile. I'm now living in NC and will be unable to attend the memorial service, but all of the Burns and Boyd family members and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest sympathy to you all as you face the days ahead and learn to live with her loss.

Harry, James, Mallory & Carrie - I and my family are deeply saddened by Barbara's untimely death. You make take solice in the fact that so many people I have spoken to recently all remember the same things about her - her warm smile and bubbly personality; how she could light up a room sometimes simply by walking into it. Barbara gave me her recipe for her ice cream cake right before we moved to Charlottesville. It's what all 3 of my kids request for their birthdays every year! She wrote me a note at the end of the recipe that makes me smile every time I read it.

I remember Barbara as always full of life and spunk with a huge smile, loving everything she did. I recently saw her at Wal-Mart with a bus load of her Carriage Hill friends; she stopped the bus in the middle of the parking aisle and jumped off to give me a big hug...all the while telling the ladies on the bus that we were friends from way back when. She was spontaneous and her bubbly personality was infectious. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

My Aunt Barbara always inspired me to have fun in life and laugh! Many moves during college she was there to help me pack and unpack. Holidays are filled with memories of her wonderful smile. Barbara was a wonderful sister-in-law to Walter Hurt and aunt to Ann Peyton, Scott, & Robby Hurt. She was a very important part of our lives.
