Barbara Ann Brasil

Barbara Ann Brasil, our blessed mother and grandmother, we will miss you!
Barbara A. Brasil, age 78, passed away on Dec. 19, 2025 in Tawas City. She was born to the late Raymond and Ethel (MacPhail) Ross on Aug. 17, 1947 in Detroit.
Barbara attended Saint Barbara School in Detroit until the eighth grade, she graduated from Franklin High School in Livonia, Class of 1965.
Mom was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and prayer warrior, as I know she will continue to be! There was always a beautiful song on her lips, one of my personal favorites being one she wrote "Menopausal Maniac," though it took me years to understand, when I did, it sure made sense!
In addition to that, Mom's beautiful rendition of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" she serenaded me with recently. She also loved to write songs, letters and color pictures for her friends and family.
She always had a generous and compassionate heart. Her life was full of struggles, but she always seemed to find something to be thankful for, and a way to brighten someone's day. How difficult it is for a family to be so far apart, but both my brother and I, and her best friend, Marie Hanoian, are forever grateful for the folks who took care of her and became her family until her life on earth was complete.
We are most thankful that we know she is at peace with the Lord, the best accomplishment in life any of us could ever know. The family appreciates your prayers, support, and every moment of your life you gave our mom.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia (Steven) Laire and James Brasil; grandchildren, Jack (Katrina) Rodrick, Luke Brasil, Elijah Brasil, Jacob Brasil, Autumn (Cody) Mack, Rebecca (Brett) Curran and Kimberly Laire; great grandchildren, Beau Mack, Willa Mack and baby Curran due in June.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 7, at 11 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church 516 W. Lincoln St., East Tawas, with Fr. Art Duchnowski presiding, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery East Tawas.
