Barbara Browdy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services - Bloomfield on May 31, 2024.
Barbara J. Browdy, a beacon of kindness and gentleness, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2024, at the age of 79 in Hartford, CT. She was born to the late Ida Mae Browdy on May 7, 1945, in Oviedo, FL. As a child, Barbara moved to Hartford, CT in 1952 where she lived a life characterized by her deep faith and her enduring kindness to all who knew her.
Growing up in Hartford, CT, Barbara's education in the Hartford Public Schools system fostered a lifelong journey of learning and personal development. Her professional life was marked by a long-standing commitment to CareCentrix where she retired in 2015.
Barbara's interests were as varied as they were joyful. She had a particular passion for cooking, shopping and collecting trinkets including frogs, angels and black figurines. She also enjoyed watching her westerns, black and white movies and the cable news networks. Barbara never turned down the opportunity to travel, especially to her family reunions, she delighted in taking care of her plants and undoubtably was delighted in living to see the first Black President, Barak Obama.
Those who knew Barbara would describe her as the epitome of kindness and gentleness. She navigated life's challenges with grace, and her faith was an unwavering source of strength and comfort, not only to herself but also to her family, especially her brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Clarence (Nancy) Browdy, Cornelius Browdy, Sr. and Thomas (Cynthia) Browdy, Sr.. Nieces, Aleece Joy, Shonta, Chloe, LaTeffa and LaTavia Browdy, Tasha Young, Semonae Richardson and Shana Collins. Nephews, Bruce (Tanisha), Thomas, Jr., Timothy Jr., Jibril, John Jr., Cornelius Jr., Joshua Browdy and Cornelius Collins. Also left to cherish her memory is her cousin Dorothy (Dot) Martin, the closest to a sister she ever had. Other than her mother, Barbara was predeceased by her brothers, Pastor John Browdy, Timothy Browdy and nephew Kevin Hicks.
Barbara's journey through life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of the human spirit. She walked gently upon this earth, yet her impact was profound, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Let us remember the beauty of a life well-lived, one filled with kindness, gentleness, and unwavering faith. Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, as we hold her close in our hearts, now and forever.

To the Browdy family and Dot Martin
My sincere condolences. I knew Barbara for many years previously before we worked together at Carecentrix for almost twenty years.
A very kind sweet soft spoken spirit.
After we both retired we still had our
Conversations even though I had moved to Virginia. If she could help or assist you in any way she would do so.
She will be truly missed by all that knew her.

My deepest sympathy to the family. Barbara was a very good friend of mine.
We worked together at Carecentrix for many years. We spent a lot of good times together, going out to dinner, lunch , and also attending plays at the Htfd stage Company. We enjoyed each other´s company. Laugh a lot together and shared the word of God. After we parted from work we talked on the phone periodically. Once we started talking we would go on and on. Barbara will truly be missed. Heaven has truly gained an Angel. May God bless the entire family.
