Barbara J. Brown, 91, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025. Born in Kokomo, Indiana, on September 29, 1933, she was the daughter of Howard and Addie (Clubbs) Mote.
Barbara graduated from Kokomo High School and dedicated many years to her career in Data Processing at Bell Fibre, retiring in 1988. She was married to the love of her life, Jimmie "Whitie" Lee Brown, for 65 wonderful years. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories, including 28 cherished years as "snowbirds" at Turtle Creek Campground in Homosassa, Florida.
Barbara was a vibrant and social soul who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time at the Marion-Grant County Senior Center, where she played Bingo and Euchre with friends. A talented bowler, she embraced every moment with enthusiasm and warmth. Her greatest joy came from visits with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great-grandson, Oliver. She also had a deep love for her pets--Boo-boo, Buckeye, and Rocky--who brought her comfort and companionship.
Barbara was grateful for the kindness of her neighbor, Debbie Pritchett, who was always there to lend a helping hand. She also appreciated the compassionate care provided by Rita Singh for her eye care and Kimmie from Heart to Heart Hospice.
She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia (Jonathan) McCoy of Marion and Marcie (Mark) Miller of Otwell; grandchildren, Jodi (Jeff) Bryan, Jeremy (Amanda) Sutphin, Jarrod Sutphin, Joseph Vironet, Owen Vironet, and Bruce Miller; great-grandchildren, Sean Reece, Alex Bryan, Jaedin Bryan, Natalie Sutphin, Riley Sutphin, and Nylah Sutphin; great-great-grandson, Oliver Bryan; and brother-in-law, Bud Campbell.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmie "Whitie" Lee Brown; her parents, Howard Oren Mote and Addie Mote; her brothers, Howard Mote and Charles "Bud" Mote; and her sister, Jean Campbell.
A celebration of life at the Marion-Grant County Senior Center will take place at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marion-Grant County Senior Center, 503 S. Gallatin St., Marion, IN 46953.
Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
