PRESQUE ISLE – Barbara Pearl (Roix) Burnett, 92, entered peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2025, at the Aroostook House of Comfort following a long illness. She was born in
Presque Isle, Maine, on January 3, 1933, the third of five children of the late Wallace and Cassie (Adams) Roix.
Barbara lived a life anchored in faith, love and devotion to her family. On November 22, 1952, she married the love of her life, Francis Burnett, and together they built a beautiful life and family. For more than 64 years their marriage was a shining example of commitment and unconditional love. They raised four children, who were the joy of Barbara's heart: Nancy (Wayne) Holmes of Mapleton, Paul (Linda) Burnett of Mesa, AZ, Robert (Bonnie) Burnett of Chapman and Cindy Smith of Bangor.
Barbara spent her professional life working at Bell Telephone, Columbia Forest Products and WT Grant before finding her long-term home at Presque Isle Housing Authority, where she dedicated 20 years of service before retiring and devoting time to her family.
She attended Framework Church; in her mother's declining years, Barbara took her faithfully to services.
She will be remembered fondly for her family recipes and warm hugs. Barbara had a quiet strength and a nurturing spirit that made everyone feel welcomed and cherished. Her greatest pride was her family, and she delighted in the laughter, stories and memories shared across generations.
She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Opal Marquis and Patricia McKay, and by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her love in their hearts. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Francis; her brothers, Linwood and Elwood Roix; brothers-in-law, Roger Marquis and Peter McKay; and sisters-in-law, Esther Roix and Ann Roix.
Barbara's legacy lives on through her nine grandchildren: Lynn (Tony) Boucher, Wendy (Christopher) Maple, Christopher (Charla) Burnett, Christie (Steven) Dolk, Renee (Brian) Ellis, Carla (Jamie Kennedy) Burnett, Ryan (Jaclyn Goodwin) Burnett, Annaleise (Joshua Lewis) Smith, Arielle (Derek) Gagnon; as well as fifteen great-grandchildren: Joshua (Chelsea) Boucher, Jessica Boucher (Alec Cyr), Dustin (Alison) Alward, Delaney (Beckam) Vaughn, Dyllan Maple, Shelby Burnett, Christopher Burnett, Madison McCann, Mack McCann, Taylor (Mason) Young, Brian (McKenna) Ellis, Evan Ellis, Kahlan Fossett, Drew Gagnon, Brooks Gagnon; and one great-great grandson, Weston Boucher. Barbara is loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Caribou Veteran's Home and the Aroostook House of Comfort for the care and compassion shown to Barbara in her final days.
