Pierre Charette Obituary

PRESQUE ISLE – Pierre Adelard Charette, 89, fondly known as "June", died peacefully at Aroostook House of Comfort on Saturday August 23, 2025. He was born July 8, 1936, the son of Adelard and Catherine Charette.

Pierre had a profound impact on all who knew him. The most fortunate of those are his family, who will remember him as a supportive husband to Joyce, his wife of almost 64 years, and a hardworking and dedicated father to his four children: Peter and his wife, Torrie, of Presque Isle; Lisa and her partner, Rodger, of Saco; Timmy and his partner, Christenia, of Crouseville; and Randy and his wife Monica, of Oakland. He loved and was loved beyond measure by his grandchildren Devin, Riley, Megan, Cassidy, Colby and Catherine and other special children in his life, Rashell, Megan, Rayah and Aydon.

Pierre is predeceased by his parents; his wife Joyce, whom he respected, loved, and cared for to the end; his brother Roger Charette of Colorado; and cherished granddaughter Cassidy Charette. He is survived by his siblings: Laurelle Bouchard of Fort Kent; Beatrice and husband Ken Parent in Dunnellon, Florida; Antoinette and husband James Hamburg of Coldwater, Ohio; Walden and wife Norma Charette; Robert and wife Pam Charette; David and wife Angela Charette, all of whom reside in Fort Kent; and Gerard and wife Ida Charette of Presque Isle. Pierre is also survived by his wife's brother James and wife Elaine Desjardins, and dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pierre was raised in Fort Kent but made his home in Presque Isle when he was hired by Potato Service Company, working 14 years mastering his welding and fabrication skills. Upon its closing, he was quickly hired by McCain, where he passionately continued his trade for another 26 years, retiring on his 75th birthday. He was dedicated to the Catholic faith and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Pierre labored fondly over his garden, sharing vegetables with family and friends. He loved family gatherings, where he often cooked the meal, enjoyed puzzles, and playing cribbage with anyone interested. He frequented the bingo halls with Joyce, reveling in the game and the company of his friends.

In the words of Ghandi "a man of few words will rarely be thoughtless in his speech; he will measure every word." Although Pierre was a man of few words, his actions spoke loudly, and daily demonstrated his ethics, values, and intentions, which have guided us all through the years.

As much as he will be missed, we know he has joyously joined his wife, and his granddaughter Cassidy Jean, who tragically passed at age 17. A memorial service will be held for Pierre on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle. A committal service will follow at Johson Cemetery, Presque Isle. The family asks that you join them for a reception at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Presque Isle, immediately following the committal service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in memory of Pierre to the House of Comfort, PO Box 867, Presque Isle, ME 04769, or to ShineOnCass Foundation established in memory of Cassidy, 64 Heritage Road, Oakland, ME 04963.
