Barbara Ann Cecil, 90, of Louisville, entered Eternal Life on Thursday, August 29, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Barbara was born in Louisville to the late Ernest and Mary Leona Atherton. She was a long-time member of St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Barbara took great pride in being considered a homemaker, where she made her house a home for her family and provided a loving and caring environment. One of Barbara's greatest honors was to hold the titles Wife, Mom, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and sister.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul "Sonny" Cecil; parents; and sisters, Mary Louise Austin and Dorothy Hibbs.
Carrying on Barbara's legacy are her children, Mark Alan Cecil, Sr. (Cynthia), Gregory W. Cecil (Melissa), Michele Dorsey (Dennis), Cheryl Janes (Jeff), Laura Singleton (David), and Eric Cecil (Natalie); 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Atherton (Stannye) and Louis Atherton; brother-in-law, Al Eisenbeis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Barbara will be from 2-8 PM on Tuesday, September 3 at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM on Wednesday, September 4 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 11501 Maple Way. Burial will follow at Brookland Cemetery.
