Barbara Chapman Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 28, 2025.
Barbara Elaine Chapman, age 78, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 26, 2025. Born to Oscar and Gladys Cunningham in West Plains, Missouri, Barbara lived a life rooted in unwavering faith, always putting God first and teaching those around her to lean on His grace and wisdom.

Barbara was the devoted wife of Daniel Chapman, her steadfast companion through every joy and challenge. Together, they shared countless adventures, many in their motor home, which in true family-story fashion seemed to break down everywhere they went. Those moments became treasured memories filled with laughter, love, and resilience.

She was a proud and loving mother to Holly (Scott) Sheehy, Ginger (Jarod) Morey, and Angel Fulton. Her greatest joy was her nine grandchildren-Brendan (Savanna), Logan, Carli, Kira, Corrin, Cole, Aysha, Mya, and Rhett-whom she prayed for daily and encouraged to walk in faith.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Gladys Cunningham, and her in-laws, Betty and RC Chapman. She is survived by her husband, Daniel; daughters and grandchildren; sister, Joyce Crumpley; brother, Dewayne Cunningham and his wife, Beverly; and sister-in-law, Dana Chapman.

Her legacy is one of humor, adventure, kindness, and unshakable faith. She now rests peacefully in glory, rewarded for a life well-lived in devotion to her Savior.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m., at Seminole Baptist Church, 4221 S National Ave, Springfield, Missouri 65810. A celebration of Barbara's life will follow on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the same location. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor a life marked by love, faith, and joyful adventures.

Floral tributes may be directed to Schaffitzel's Flowers, 1771 E. Atlantic St., Springfield, MO 65803.

Barbara's greatest desire was for everyone to know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. If you have not accepted Him as your Lord and Savior, do not wait-make that decision today. Eternity is real, and tomorrow is not promised.

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." – Romans 10:9 (KJV)

Barbara loved everyone deeply and would not want us to be so sad-only to rejoice in knowing she is safe in the arms of Jesus.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center in Ozark, Missouri.
