Barbara Jo Chatmon

Barbara Jo Chatmon, 86, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, January 24, 2025 at Hermitage Care and Rehabilitation after a fierce battle with dementia. She was born April 24, 1938 in Graves County, KY to the late S.J. and Ava Nell Murdock Waters. Barbara devoted over 30 years of her life teaching in the Owensboro Public Schools. In that time, she taught everything from Head Start to 5th grade. She touched many lives before retiring from Estes Elementary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Eugene Chatmon on November 23, 2005.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robby Chatmon and his wife, Cassie; her favorite granddaughter, Taylor Chatmon of Louisville; her favorite grandson, Chase Chatmon and his wife, Sabrina, of Wildomar, California; brothers, Jerry Waters and his wife, Martha and Danny Waters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Services will be live-streamed at www.davisfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
