Barbara Fordham Cook, age 93, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 19th at Sparta Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Memorial Gardens.
Born in Dublin, Georgia on January 13, 1932, Mrs. Barbara was the second youngest of nine children. She worked for the Bank of Hancock County for many years. She was a member of Sparta Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Choir. She loved to cook and enjoyed reading and studying her Bible. Mrs. Barbara loved watching the Atlanta Braves and her grandchildren play sports. She was preceded in death by parents Thomas Franklin Fordham and Ora Lee Holland Fordham, her husband George Edwin Cook Jr., and her daughter Donna Cook Griffith.
Survivors include her son Edwin Cook (Karen) of Winder, a daughter Janet McCrary (Gray) of Americus, 4 grandchildren: Katie Boley (Clint), Kevin McCrary (Lorrie Anne), Morgan Cook Sharpe (Matthew), and Madison Cook Cravey (Kyle), 4 great grandchildren Matthew, Dansby, Wells, and Judah.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sparta Baptist Church or John Hancock Academy.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Sparta Baptist Church.
