Eunice Sanders Babb passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, in Gray, Georgia, one day before her 106th birthday. She was born in Treutlen County, Georgia, on September 15, 1919, and raised on a farm in a close-knit family with her parents and two sisters. Her love of reading began in her early childhood. She often spoke of having a book in one hand and a dictionary in the other, a habit that continued past her 100th birthday. She initially attended a one room country school, but later through perseverance was able to obtain a 2-year teachers' certificate from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern University) in Statesboro, Georgia, and later graduated with bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Georgia State College for Women (now Georgia College & State University) in Milledgeville. She taught at City Elementary and Southside Elementary in Baldwin County.

After her retirement, she enjoyed reading, genealogical research, gardening, and spending time with her family. She traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe with her sister Ellen.

She was a member of First Methodist Church in Milledgeville, was a past member of Nancy Hart Daughters of the American Revolution, and Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society for women educators. She was a real-life Rosie the Riveter, working at the munitions plant in Milledgeville during WWII making war supplies. She was a member of the Rosie the Riveter Association.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Sam Babb, her parents Leland Watkins Sanders and Claude R. Sanders of Soperton, two sisters, Ellen (Robert) Hill of Dublin, and Ruth (Ira) Maddox of Milledgeville.

Survivors include her daughter Sharon Amor (Richard) of Milledgeville, granddaughter Tracey Fulford Nelson of Fulshear, Texas, and great granddaughters Rachel Nelson of Cypress, Texas, and Sara Kathryn Nelson of College Station, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews including Wayne Maddox (Cola) of Milledgeville.

Eunice's family and friends will always remember her love of family, education, teaching, and traveling.

Special thanks to her friends who blessed her with cards, visits, and other kind gestures, especially during her later years. Her family would also like to thank the staff of Stone Brooke Suites and Autumn Lane in Gray for their compassionate care.
