Robert Heyward Babb

Bobby "Robert" Heyward Babb, 95, of Cowpens, South Carolina passed away on
Tuesday, September 16, 2025. He was born March 27, 1930, to the late Blanche Garrett
Babb and Heyward Melton Babb.

Robert was of the Baptist faith and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He
attended Spartanburg Methodist College, as well as Wofford College, and served 12
years as 2 nd Lieutenant with the Army National Guard. He was a credit investigator with
Equifax for 40 years. Robert was an avid golfer, known in the golfing community as
"Babb the Jab", and was the first Ranger hired at Peach Valley Golf Course. He achieved
9 "Hole in One" shots in his lifetime. He was also a member of the Jack Berry Band.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Cheryl Metcalf South (Bill), Cynthia B.
Knight, and Sarah Rebecca "Becky" Babb; a son, Robert David Babb "Squirrel";
grandchildren, Brian Greene (Amy), Josh Greene, Michael Exall, Deana Babb, Allen
Ladd, Cody Babb (Brandy), and Chelsea Pruitt (Hunter); great- grandchildren, Alex
(Renee), Avery (Logan), Aiden, and Emory Greene, Madison Greene, Caleb Owens
(Kirsten), Preston Burns, Isaiah Exall, Grayson Exall, Anna Exall, Nathan Exall, Bailey
Exall, and Katie Babb (Xavier); 8 great-great grandchildren; and his lifelong best friend,
Amos Ramsey.

In addition to his parents, and wife, Dorothy Campbell Babb, he was predeceased by a
son, Kenneth "Ken" Wayne Babb, sister, Nancy Brown, and granddaughter, Kelli
Michelle Owens.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 11:00 am until 12:00 noon prior to the memorial service.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Mt.
Pleasant Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charlie Glover and Rev. Alex Greene officiating.
