Barbara Ann Council, born on April 15, 1948, in Augusta, Georgia, departed this life on October 16, 2025, in the very city that cradled her formative years. She leaves behind a rich legacy rooted in love, compassion, and the warmth of cherished memories, all encapsulated within her role as a devoted homemaker.

A person of remarkable character, Barbara embodied the spirit of family and friendship. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her can attest to the joy she found in the presence of her loved ones, often gathering them on her front porch—a sacred space where laughter and stories flowed freely. Her personality, often described as wonderful, was a testament to the love she shared and the kindness she extended to all.

In her passing, she is mourned by her beloved children: Marion Rhodes, Clint Rhodes, Lynn (Annie) Rhodes, Sr., Julie Wigfall, and Laronda Wigfall. She was also cherished by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of friends who were all touched by her gentle spirit and infectious smile.

Barbara's family tree also includes her sister, Eva Rhodes. She will forever hold her memory dear, alongside the profound love and support she provided throughout her life.

She is predeceased by her parents, Marvin Rhodes, Sr. and Ina Mae Rhodes, her sisters, Betty Walker and Reba Turner, and her brothers, David Lee Rhodes, Marvin Rhodes, Jr., Wilton Rhodes, John Rhodes, Bufford Knight Rhodes, and Forrest Rhodes, Sr., who await her in the eternal embrace of peace.

In honoring Barbara’s life, we invite friends and family to celebrate her memory through two commemorative services to be held at C.A. Reid Sr. Memorial Funeral Home in Augusta, Georgia. The visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 2:30 PM, concluding at 3:30 PM.

As we reflect on her life, may we find solace in the love she shared and the indelible mark she left upon us. Barbara Ann Council shall forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and a guiding light in our memories.
