Barbara Anne Czimer, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away on October 23, 2023.

Barbara was born on February 6, 1942 in Kearney, Nebraska to Ray and Alma (Krumback) Miller. She began her long and successful career working for Sears Roebuck in the drapery department. As she moved up in the company she was afforded the opportunity to transfer to various locations throughout the Midwest, ending her 25+ year career at their Sears Tower headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. After retiring from Sears, she spent a brief time working at JCPenney’s in Dallas, Texas before returning to the Kansas City area. Barbara was never one to sit still and after the passing of her husband Art, she began volunteering at the Hillcrest Thrift Shop in Parkville, MO, which she did for nearly 10 years. She often spent her Saturdays with her daughter and granddaughter finding treasures at estate sales, antique malls and thrift stores.  She was always making a deal to get the best price possible. She also enjoyed spending time at the casino, playing the blackjack tables and slot machines.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 20 years, Arthur Czimer; and brothers, Jerry and Gene Miller. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by children, Todd (Tom Donohue) Walker and Su (Rick) Valdivia; grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Ashpaugh and Alex (Anaya) Valdivia; great grandchildren, Calvin, Bennett, and Jackson Ashpaugh; sister, Lois Ochsenhirt; her beloved cat, Frankie; and numerous extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 29th with visitation beginning at 1:00pm, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hillcrest Thrift Shop, 6501 N Cosby Ave, Kansas City, MO 64151. The family would like to  express their sincere gratitude to NorthCare Hospice for the excellent care that they have provided during this difficult time.
