Barbara Daniels-Dier Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills on Oct. 10, 2016.
Barbara Jean Daniels-Dier (Earhart), 84, born on August 24, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away on October 10, 2016 in Kirkland, Washington.  She was raised in Culver City, attended Hamilton High School, class of 1951. Her love for swimming would take her to Santa Monica Beach where she spent days enjoying the coast.  She married her high school sweetheart Floyd LaMar Daniels, on a TV show called "Wedding Bells", May 1, 1950.  Her husband LaMar had returned from the Korea War and showed an interest in starting an investment casting business; she quickly changed her career of being a dental assistant, to working alongside him as the office manager for LaDonn Castings.    They decided to move the family to Shadow Hills, CA to be closer to their successful business in Sun Valley, CA.  Barbara loved being a mother and decided to leave working behind, and become a full time mother to Danny, Randal & Marla.  She became very involved with her children's school Village Christian School.  She volunteered many hours and performed duties from Room-Parent, Boy & Cub-Scout Den Leader, Brownie & Girl Scout Leader, to the Health Chairman..  After the children were grown she moved on with her life and went back to school to earn an AA in Social Services.  She started working for the California Department of Rehabilitation, where she retired in 1992.  Barbara meets her next love, George Dier, at a dance held by the "Who's Who" of Southern California.  They had plenty in common including interests in hiking, camping, bicycling, sailing, growing up in Culver City, and the same childhood friends.  Their love blossomed and they decided to sail their sailboat and be married on Catalina Island.  After George retired from the Culver City Fire Department, they moved out of Southern California to Brookings, Oregon and lived for a few years.  Long enough for George to realize he preferred SUN over RAIN.  They then turned around and moved to Saddle Brooke, outside of Tucson Arizona.  Here they enjoyed their love of sports, clubs, social activities, theatre, and lot's of sunshine.  After Georges passing, Barbara decided to travel a bit.  She traveled with her daughter to Europe and visited 15 countries, the cabin on Vancouver Island, and numerous trips to visit her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Barbara loved Genealogy and was involved creating family trees since the 1970's.  Her genealogical library has years of her works displaying her untiring dedication to history.  She may even have saved research on her past neighbors, friends, and family.  She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of Ohio. She loved her Lord and the wonderful Lift Group she belonged too. Barbara is survived by her children Danny Daniels of Edmonds, WA; Randal (Elizabeth) Daniels of Cleburne; TX, and Marla (Jeffrey) Kroll of Edmonds, WA; step-children Diane (Craig) Pittenger of Oregon; grandchildren Kai Daniels, Daisy Dong, Jenifer Daniels, Lorelei (Luke) Evans, and Ashley (Solver) Kroll; step-grandchild Rachel Williamson, and many great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
