Barbara Jean Daugherty passed away peacefully December 2, 2025 with her family by her side.
Barbara Jean was born February 24, 1928, to Raymond and Frieda Reitmeyer in Decker Indiana. The oldest of five girls, Barbara Jean, worked alongside her sisters on the farm from an early age. She graduated from Decker High School where she met Hubert W Daugherty Jr., and they married on October 10, 1948.
Hube's military service with the US Marine Corp took the couple to Barstow, California where they resided and had their daughter Debbie. Upon their return to Vincennes, Hube and Barbara built their "forever" home in Fort Knox. This is the home Barbara spent many hours every day, meticulously maintaining her yard and landscaping. She felt great pride in her blooming azaleas each and every year.
Barbara Jean worked for Production Credit/Federal Land Bank until her retirement in 1993.
She is survived by her daughters Deborah (Ernie) Brothers of Evansville and Angela Daugherty of Westfield and son Kevin Daugherty of Vincennes; grandsons Aaron Brothers, Mitchell (Lana) Brothers and Evan Brothers all of Evansville; two great grandchildren, Cameron and Jordan Brothers; and her beloved sister Rosalie Schenk.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Hubert in December of 1991. She is also preceded by both her parents, her sisters Nelta Grubb (1973), Kay Ellis (1990) and Marilyn Williams (2024).
She was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Vincennes.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm on Saturday December 6, 2025, with the funeral beginning at 2:00 pm at the church located at 8th and Scott Street with Pastor Ron Maxwell officiating. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery will follow immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations made to St John's Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank everyone at Gentle Care who showed Barbara so much kindness and compassion.
