Barbara Davis passed away on Sat., October 25, 2025 at the age of 94 in Las Cruces, NM. She was the widow of M.Sgt. William Davis, U.S. Army. He predeceased her while still a soldier. Barbara was the loving mother of Joann (Davis) Rickley who died in 2024 and the grandmother of Chad William Rickley who died in his twenties while living, working, and attending college in CA. Her son-in-law, Dennis Rickley, was devoted to them throughout life and in the end oversaw Barbara's care. Barbara was in hospice care at Grace Village and also the Hospice Hospital in Las Cruces. Dennis is the closest family member living in Las Cruces. He wishes to commend both Grace Village and the Hospice Hospital for the excellent care shown to her in her final days.
Barbara was born to Harold and Sarah Pattison of Burlington, MA and graduated from Burlington High School. She was the eldest of 10 children and is survived by her brother, David Pattison of MA, and a sister, Bette (Pattison) Kulas of Iowa. The family lived on a dairy farm in Burlington, MA which was later sold to make way for high tech companies decades later.
After graduating from high school, Barbara worked as a bookkeeper and administrative assistant in businesses. When she moved to Las Cruces with her husband and daughter, she worked till retirement for the Raytheon Company at White Sands Military Facility. She had many friends from there and attended the reunions of Raytheon Company employees who had also retired.
Barbara loved to play pinochle and other card games and once a month she would join her friends at "Golden Corral" where they played their card games all day long long and enjoyed the buffets. She liked to attend the Las Cruces Symphony concerts with her cousin, Joan Sheehan also of Las Cruces, and they had season tickets to the performances for years.
She is survived by family members and friends in MA, Iowa, CA, and NM. Within the last few years, these relatives and friends from out of state had come to see her and to share precious memories of times well lived. She will be missed by one and all.
Her funeral service will be held on Tues., Dec. 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at La Paz-Graham Funeral Home in Las Cruces. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Barbara, please visit our floral store.
