Barbara Lee Dever, aged 88, passed away peacefully at Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan, on August 8, 2024. Born on January 4th, 1936, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Lillian and Donald Martin.
Barbara was a graduate of Milford Mill High School in 1955 where she led the Cheerleading squad and played Volleyball. She later attended the University of Maryland. On March 15, 1963, she married the love of her life, Donald Arthur Dever, at Howard Park Methodist Church in their hometown of Baltimore. Barbara and Don made their home in Rochester, MI and spent their retirement years in Naples, FL.
She had a brief career and proudly served as a Sub Secretary for the Rochester Community School District. Barbara found her true calling as a homemaker, where she nurtured a busy family and provided a loving and safe environment. Her hobbies included playing cards, golf, and a particular fondness for travel. Barbara's leadership and dedication were recognized when she served as the Chair of the Quail Creek Village Chapter of the Red Hat Society in Naples, FL.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her husband Don, her children, Jeff Dever (Lani) and Darrin Dever (Tracy), her sibling, Ronald Martin (Ruth), her cherished grandchildren, Tyler Dever (Darby), Blake Dever (Anna), Chris Dever (Rachel), Tim Dever, Kayla Dever and Haleigh Dever, and her great grandchildren, Sean, Connor and Raelynn.
A memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rochester, MI, on August 14, 2024, at 11 AM, officiated by Reverend Rick Kress. Barbara will be laid to rest at Loudon Park Cemetery, Baltimore, MD, at a later date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to The American Lung Association.
Barbara Lee Dever will be remembered as a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Her grace, laughter, and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
