Barbara A. Devlin

Barbara A. (Scannell) Devlin, 94, formerly of Huntington Beach, California, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, 2025, after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by her family at Countryside Health Care of Milford, Massachusetts.

Born and raised in Brighton, MA, Barbara attended St. Columbkille High School (class of 1948) and graduated from Simmons College in 1952. She married the love of her life, Edward "Ted" Devlin in 1953. Soon after, they moved to California where they raised their family.

Barbara was active in her community and church throughout her life and held many leadership roles for the betterment of her community and family. She was quite proud of being one of the founding members of the Huntington Harbour F.I.N.S., a social club where lifelong friendships were formed.

A woman of many talents, Barbara was an accomplished cook and baker, an avid gardner, a skillful knitter and a devoted reader. She enjoyed sharing her life and talents with friends and family and welcomed many guests into her home. Barbara will be remembered for her unending supply of blueberry muffins and cookies, which she shared with one and all. She and her husband loved to travel together and traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Barbara's greatest joy was her family. Barbara is survived by her husband of 72 years, Dr. Edward A. Devlin, and by their daughter, Gayle Ciaramicoli and her husband Philip of Milford, MA. She was a loving grandmother to Laura Ingemi and her husband Joshua of Milford, MA, Lynne Nicholas and her husband Donald of Medfield, MA, and Brian Ciaramicoli of Hopkinton, MA. She also leaves behind her beloved great grandchildren Olivia, Alexa, and Juliana Ingemi, and Avery and Philip Nicholas. She is also survived by her sister, Susan McTighe, her husband Bill and their daughter Sara of Brighton. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Jon Scannell and Billy Somers.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 10:00am at the Catholic Community of Sacred Heart Hopedale MA.
