Margaret "Margo" Marcus

Margaret Marcus, 86, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 18, 2025, after a brief illness. She will be greatly missed by her son Joe Marcus and wife Kate (of Camp Hill), her daughter Sara Marcus Kaplaniak and husband Eddy (of Camp Hill), and four grandchildren – Noah, Lily, Calvin and Emelia.

Margo was born on December 27, 1938 in Syracuse, NY to the late Ted Miller and late Mary "Queen" Dinneen Miller. She was preceded in death by Samuel, her husband of 57 years, and two brothers, Matt Miller and Teddy Miller.

Growing up in Syracuse, Margo spent summers cultivating sunburns at Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake, and cheering for the Boston Red Sox due to her grandfather's long affiliation with Major League Baseball as a pitcher and umpire, and eventual Hall of Famer. After earning a Bachelor's Degree at Simmons College in Boston, Margo returned to Syracuse to work as a social worker with Onondoga County, placing newborns in adoptive homes.

In 1967, Margo and Sam eloped to a cabin in the woods of upstate New York before beginning their lives and starting a family in Minnesota where Sam taught at Mankato State University. Eventually, they settled in Pennsylvania and Margo became involved with the Catholic Church and the schools, swim clubs and other activities where her kids were most active.

Margo loved to cook and entertain, always happiest in the kitchen talking with family and friends. Over the years she also enjoyed family vacations on Long Beach Island, side trips to Atlantic City and visits to the Finger Lakes with her best childhood friend. Margo will be missed by many as she gained friends and fans everywhere she went in life, even until the end when she developed special relationships with nurses, personal care assistants and music therapists working at Country Meadows and Lifesong Hospice.

A Funeral Mass for Margo will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1, 2025, at Saint Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Visitation will take place prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
