Barbara Ann Dodd McCleskey of Fairfield Plantation, Villa Rica, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024. Barbara a native, and longtime resident of Atlanta, Georgia, came to Fairfield Plantation to retire in 1980. She was born April 26, 1931, daughter of Robert Lee Morris and Lurlie McGuire Morris.
Barbara worked for old Rich's Department Store, in Atlanta, for seventeen years. She was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church for over 30 years, Fairfield Women's Club, and Tanner Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Valinda & Bob Weigman of Sharpsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory & Paula Dodd of Villa Rica; daughters-in-law, Dianne Dodd of Villa Rica and Nora Dodd of Stockbridge; stepdaughter, Mala Karr of Powder Springs; stepson, Thomas Mace McCleskey III of Powder Springs; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Edwin Dodd; her husband of 37 years, Thomas M. McCleskey Jr.; and sons Michael Dodd and Douglas Dodd.
A funeral service will be held to honor and celebrate Mrs. Barbara's life on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Todd Wright officiating. Mrs. Nadene Hembree and Mrs. Patty Pritchard will render the music. The family will hold a private interment ceremony at Crest Lawn Memorial Park following the service.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
