James Bishop Wiggins, age 85, of Sharpsburg, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born on October 29, 1939, in Graham, Alabama, the son of the late George Willis Wiggins and Ollie Mavis Wiggins.
James was a proud graduate of Woodland High School. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service, retiring at the age of 55. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and cheering on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. Above all, James will be remembered for the way he loved his people. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who treasured his family more than anything.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Almeda Wiggins Hilyer, and brother, Ron Wiggins.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Gayle Burk Wiggins; his children and their spouses or significant others, Diletta Mavis Wiggins and Chris Giddens, James Ricky Wiggins and Connie Wiggins, Renee Lujan and Eric Lujan, and Tonya Hood; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A graveside service celebrating James' life will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Carroll Memory Gardens.
Flowers are welcome. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution in James' honor, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in recognition of the many loved ones in his life who have been affected by cancer. Donations may be made by visiting donate.cancer.org.
