Jason McClung Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Jason McClung, age 44, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025. He was born on November 15, 1980, in Austell, Georgia, the son of Bruce and Elva McClung.
Jason was a proud graduate of Alexander High School and the owner, operator, and pitmaster of Fine as Shine BBQ. Anytime friends spotted his signature red truck, they knew Jason wasn't far behind. While he was well known for his mouthwatering barbecue and signature flavor, those who knew him best will remember him even more for his heart. Jason had a gift for making people feel cared for-whether family, friends, or strangers. He would stop whatever he was doing to lend a hand, never asking for anything in return.
A true jack of all trades and one of the hardest workers you could ever meet, Jason embodied "Built Ford Tough." He had a lifelong love of Mustangs and could often be found with music blasting because, for Jason, there was always a song for every moment. But above all, he loved his family and the many friends who had become like family along the way. He was a devoted son, loyal brother, loving husband, and the best "Homie," "Papa," and "BooBoo" his children and grandchildren could ever have asked for.
In addition to his parents, Jason leaves behind his loving wife, Jackie Allsop McClung; daughter and son-in-law, Brooke and Zack Rich; step-son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Kelly Pearson; brother and sister-in-law, Tyler and Sandy McClung; grandchildren, Waylon Rich, Watson Rich, and Huntleigh Rich (on the way); paternal grandfather, Leon McClung; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janis and Bob Allsop; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Breanna Welton; and nieces and nephews, Wyatt McClung, Shelby McClung, Brenna Welton, and William Welton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Sadie McClung; paternal grandmother, Villa McClung; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Dolores Hester.
The family will receive friends at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A graveside service celebrating Jason's life will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. EST / 1:00 p.m. CST at Walkers Chapel Cemetery in Fort Payne, Alabama.
Messages of condolence may be shared with the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the McClung family during this time of remembrance.
