Samuel McKeeman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Martin & Hightower Funeral Home - Carrollton on Feb. 4, 2025.
Samuel "Sam" James McKeeman, 37, of Ellenwood, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1987, in Lithia Springs, Georgia, the son of John K. McKeeman and Suse Armstrong McKeeman.
Sam's educational journey began at Bill Arp Elementary School, continued through Fairplay Middle School, and culminated with his graduation from Alexander High School in 2005. While in high school, he took on the role of a lifeguard at Fairfield Plantation, where he honed his skills in water safety and was a beloved coworker and mentor.
In 2009, Sam graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of West Georgia, where he developed a passion for information technology. Since graduating, he has pursued several IT certifications, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Most recently, he served as an IT Manager at Aaron's, utilizing his expertise to oversee technological operations and ensure efficient workflows.
Outside of his professional life, Sam found joy in outdoor adventures, particularly camping, where he cherished the tranquility of nature. He had a talent for planning intricate fireworks displays that delighted family and friends during various holidays. A movie enthusiast, he was captivated by the thrilling adventures of "Jurassic Park" and the epic tales of "Star Wars."
Sam passionately supported the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United, following their games and celebrating their victories. At home, he shared his life with three beloved cats-Tanner, Melissa, and Lucy-who brought warmth and companionship to his daily routine. Sam's interests and values reflected a well-rounded individual who balanced a fulfilling career with his love for family, friends, and furry companions.
In addition to his parents, Sam leaves behind to cherish his memory his brother, Ben McKeeman; aunts & uncles, Jim & Laurie Armstrong, Bob & Deborah McKeeman, Linda Simmons, and Jim & Carol Gilliland; cousins, Josh & Laura Rutledge, and Dave & Alyssa McKeeman; and roommates, Doug Davis, Dallas Snoderly, and A.J. Robinette.
Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mac & Beth McKeeman and Matt & Pat Armstrong, as well as his uncle, Chris Simmons, and his cousin, Alex McKeeman.
A memorial service will honor and celebrate Sam's life on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 3:00 PM from the Chapel of Martin & Hightower Funeral Home, with Pastor Randy Barnhart officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 PM until the hour of service.
In honor of Sam's love for animals, especially his cats, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones consider making memorial contributions in Sam's name to their local animal shelter or humane society. Such generous donations will pay tribute to Sam's passion for animal welfare and bring hope and care to countless furry companions in need.
Friends and family are invited to send condolence messages to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.

Sam, I already miss you. We have known each other 15-16 years. You were what a good friend is suppose to be. Watching your service, I recall that final trip be took, that Alaska cruise about a year ago, your aunt nailed it when she told about your computer and work set up in your cabin. I was shocked first time I went down there. And the other thing she discussed your thing for signs were very true. I remember at the end of that trip you came up to my cabin and proudly gave me a few from the ship. Its time to bring them out and display them. Rest Easy my friend, Rest Easy!
