Barbara Doucot – Methuen, MA

Barbara Douçot, 86, of Methuen, MA, passed away on September 10, 2025. Barbara was born in Lawrence, MA, on January 14, 1939, the daughter of Edward and Eleanor (Ashford) Champy. She was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing. She had a well-loved career in nursing before going into the family business, Champy's Service Tire and Supply, until her retirement.

Barbara loved her family and cherished spending summers at the family's "camp" at Little Island Pond in Pelham, NH, where she was an active community member, and with her husband Bob, hosted the Pond's Junior Fishing Derby for many years. When at home, Barbara would often be found outside in the company of family, friends, and beloved pets. Traveling with Bob and her cousin Carol O'Donohue brought Barbara great joy. Over the years, the three of them created many great memories. Barbara also loved keeping in touch and getting together with her nursing school friends.

Barbara leaves behind her husband of 65 years, Bob Douçot, son Michael Douçot, daughter Suzanne (Douçot) Teichert and husband Eric Teichert, grandchildren Renée Douçot, Keith (Douçot) Marquis and husband Michael Marquis, Paul Douçot and husband Israel Hernandez, Kristian Teichert and wife Michelle (Soel) Teichert, Chandler Teichert, great-grandchildren Eleanor Teichert and Jacqueline Marquis, sister in-law Aline Champy, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by granddaughter Karlene Teichert, brother Edward Champy Jr, and daughter-in-law Margaret (MacVicar) Douçot.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm at Dewhirst and Boles, 80 Broadway St, Methuen, MA. A graveside service will be held on September 17, 2025, at 10 am at Elmwood Cemetery, 130 North Lowell St, Methuen, MA.

Barbara's family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Nevins Nursing and Rehab Center for the tremendous care and support they provided during her time there. The family would also like to express their gratitude to Harborside Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown toward Barbara, Bob, and their loved ones.

To the Doucot Family, we are very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember Barbara from the LIP Fishing Derbys. She would always wave as we passed by on our boat. The Traynors LIP
