Smyrna - Barbara Ann (Estes) Doughty passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 30, 1945, delivered by her uncle, Theodore Stevens, M.D., Director of Maine General Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her father, Woodrow Estes, her mother, Ruth (Robinson) Estes, and her sister, Sharon (Robinson) Waznis. She is survived by her devoted husband, Everett Doughty Sr., and their children: son, Everett Jr. and his wife Amy, and their daughter Tiffany (Doughty) Foster and her husband Ethan, along with great-grandsons Landon and Walker; son, Michael and his wife Vicki, and their children Derek and his wife Audrey and grandson Lucas, as well as Michael's son Alan and daughter Kayla, and great-grandsons Gabriel and Nicholas; son, Christopher and his wife Susan, and their children Marisa, Ryan, and Joshua; daughter, Julie (Doughty) Devlin and her husband Mark, and their children Ethan and Hannah-Kate; son, Timothy and his wife Denice, and their children Tyler and stepchildren Natalie and Liam; son, Daniel and his wife Hannah, and their sons JD and Solomon; and their youngest daughter, Christina (Doughty) Rice and her husband Ethan.
From the beginning, her life was one marked by devotion-first to her faith, then to her home, and always to her family.
Barbara was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her loyalty was steadfast and unwavering, and those who loved her knew they could rely on her without question.
A gifted baker, Barbara filled her home-and the homes of many others-with the warm comfort of her pies, cookies, and cakes. Her kitchen was a gathering place of laughter, learning, and love. Her apple pie was unmatched, with only her husband, Everett Doughty Sr., ever coming close.
Barbara had a deep affection for animals, especially dogs and cats. She took great pride in her beautiful Samoyed Huskies, caring for them with joy and tenderness. She also found peace in nature, cherishing hikes, walks along the beach, and moments among wildflowers. Whether outdoors or at home, she delighted in the simple beauties of life.
Faith was the cornerstone of Barbara's journey. She served for many years as a Pathfinder director, guiding young people with patience, kindness, and leadership. She later became a certified nursing assistant, dedicating herself to caring for her father, mother, and sister with compassion and grace.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith. Her family takes comfort in knowing she rests in peace and looks forward to the day they will meet again when Jesus comes in the clouds of glory.
She cherished each of them deeply, and her love for her family was one of the greatest joys of her life. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.
A service will be held on Sunday November 23, 2025, at the Seventh Day Adnventist Church in Oakfield at 10 am with Pastors Arnet and Judy Mathers officiating.
