Barbara Duncan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sosebee Funeral Home on Sep. 29, 2024.
Barbara Caviness Duncan, age 87, passed away on September 25, 2024, in St. Augustine, FL. Her life was marked by love, spirit, and forthrightness. Born on September 21, 1937, in Canton, GA, Barbara was a person of deep faith, having been an active member of North Canton Baptist Church and later at Woodstock First Baptist Church.
Barbara's zest for life was evident in her diverse interests. She found joy in shopping, relished trips to the mountains, and cherished dining out with her family. In her younger years, Barbara's musical talents shone through her singing and piano playing, and she often took to square dancing with a vivacious energy.
Above all, Barbara was a loving family woman and a sassy spitfire who was never shy about sharing her honest views. Alongside her love for her family, she held a special place in her heart for her feline companions. Her spirited presence will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Duncan; parents, Marvin and Bessie Caviness; brothers, Bobby Caviness and Buddy Caviness; and son-in-law, Tim Westbrook.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Amanda Westbrook; granddaughter, Taylor Westbrook; grandsons, Ethan Westbrook and Duncan Westbrook; brother, Billy Caviness (Pat); sister, Betty Winters (Ronnie); as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ken Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 1st from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
