Barbara Dwyer Obituary

Barbara F. (Kelly) Dwyer of Weymouth died Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the age of 91. She died peacefully in her home in South Weymouth with her loving family.

She was married to the late Roger Dwyer for 58 years. She was a devoted and loving wife who cared for him in his later years.

Family was the true joy in Barbara’s life. She was the loving mother of James Dwyer and his wife Daurice Cox and her dedicated and loving daughter Debra Keough and her husband Christopher Keough. She was the most loving, dedicated, and committed, Nana to Sean Dwyer, Erin (Dwyer) Masison and her husband Joseph, Kiera Dwyer, Derek Keough and his wife Noelle Keough, and Kayla Keough. She welcomed in her grandchildren’s spouses Noelle Keough and Joseph Masison like her own grandchildren. Her pride and joy were the newest addition to the family, her great grandchildren Jack Keough, Madelyn Masison, and Lily Keough, they brought her even more joy than she could imagine.

Born in Quincy raised in Weymouth by her parents, late Joseph (WPD) and Ruth (Taylor) Kelly. She was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph and his wife Maureen Kelly, Kathleen and her husband David Smart, and her beloved sister Ruth Thiessen. She leaves behind her dedicated and caring brother-in-law Gary Thiessen. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, her great nieces and nephews as well as her large extended Dwyer family.

Barbara graduated from Weymouth High School and followed her passion of dancing. She was proud of owning her own dance school and credits herself for teaching most of Weymouth how to waltz. She spent many years teaching dance and producing dance recitals for hundreds of Weymouth youth.

Her love of dance was outshined by the love for her grandchildren. Nana and Pa attended every game, school event, and activity of her five grandchildren. They were the first to be at an event and would not leave until the grandchild had a Gatorade or their favorite chocolate bar. Her grandchildren always felt loved and cherished by her. She received daily phone calls, visits, help with flashlights, bringing her muffins, jelly donuts and flowers but most importantly spending special time with their Nana.

She will be missed but the love and dedication that her family felt everyday will last forever.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday, 23, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Route 18 opposite of South Shore Hospital).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 10 AM.

Services will conclude with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
