Our wonderful mother, Joan E MacLeod (Coullahan), passed away on February 16th, surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.
Joan was born in Boston and grew up in Jamaica Plain, where she met and married her husband, Ken. They raised three children in Milton. Joan later moved to Quincy, and finally Colonial Village in Weymouth where she enjoyed her retirement with the new community that she made there.
Joan was a proud graduate of Mass Memorial Nursing School, and was a practicing registered nurse for over fifty years, most of those years at Eventide Nursing Home formally in Quincy, MA.
Joan was a lifelong optimist even though she had faced many challenges throughout her life. She was a strong believer of faith and hope. She was very generous in spirit and deed, always helping someone in need.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth D MacLeod and their beautiful daughter, Alison MacLeod. She is survived by her son, Brian MacLeod, daughter-in-law, Eileen MacLeod of Weymouth, daughter, Jill MacLeod Berlo, son-in-law, Ken Berlo and granddog “Peppa” of Carver.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 on Saturday, February 21st at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home at 809 Main Street Weymouth, MA. A private interment will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation in Joan’s name to the charity of your choice.
