Barbara "Bobbie Jean" Eggert, 80, of Jacksonville, went home to be with The Lord, Sunday, September 29th, at her daughter and son-in-law's home. She had been in their care for the last two years as well as under hospice supervision due to the effects of dementia/Alzheimer's.
Barbara/Bobbie Jean was born on September 1, 1944, in Millen, Georgia to parents, Samuel & Ella Mae Jenkins (née Joyner). She moved to Florida as a teenager and remained there until she passed. It is where she flourished as a wife, mother and nana. She opted to be a homemaker and stay at home mom after working at the Oceanway Pharmacy during her younger years. She gave birth to two daughters, Lois and Tresa. They were her pride and joy and her devotion to them was unmatched. She later would become a grandmother and great-grandmother, otherwise known as Nana. During her years, you could find her volunteering at the elementary school, taking her kids to dance practice, softball games, hosting pool parties and sleepovers. She had a full church life and a family that she adored too. She happily spent many hours weekly there in worship, studying and helping wherever she could.
If you were blessed enough to call Barbara/Bobbi Jean sister, aunt, niece, cousin and or friend, then you knew her steadfast, fierce, adoring, loyal and unyielding dedication to you as well. To know her love and support was the safest space anyone could want to be.
Some of her hobbies were cooking and baking, especially around the holidays. She loved Christmas, collecting mugs, sweet tea, Coke and had a soft spot for her animals. She also loved to shop and generally for others, as she was always gifting to those in need. Most often she did it anonymously. She would purchase lunch, coffee, groceries for strangers she would just happen upon. Pay a family member's bill or lend without hesitation to simply just help. She gave yearly to many charities and causes as well. She also gave the wisest advice or would lend an ear or even a place to stay if needed. Barbara/Bobbie Jean simply had the biggest giving heart and expected nothing in return but for you to pay it forward.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of more than 40 years, Larry Eggert; brothers Johnny Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins (Patricia), Douglas Jenkins and Randy Jenkins.
She is survived by daughters Lois Nettles (Ricky) and Tresa Davis. Her grandchildren, Richard Nettles (Amber), Ryan Nettles (Bernadyn) and Gus Easter and her great-grandchildren, Brody, Bella, Lyla, Zoe and Liam.
She is also survived by brothers, George Jenkins (Nona), David Jenkins (Sheila) and Craig Jenkins; sisters, Jessie Mae Hambrick, Martha Hohnerlein, and Dartha Houston (Jurgen);
Along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends who were family.
Barbara/Bobbie Jean's family would like to thank you for your support, prayers, love and kind words during her passing. We as a family are taking this time for ourselves to grieve and honor her in private. Interment by cremation.
We ask that, in lieu of food and flowers, that a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or Animal Rescue of your choice be made if you wish.
