Barbara Everson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forest Funeral Home - Shelton on Nov. 22, 2023.
Barbara Louise Everson, died of a stroke on November 13, 2023. She was born in Avalon Park, Florida on November 17, 1950.
Raised on Long Island, New York, the family moved out West to Mill Valley, California in 1964, she lived her teen years there until going out on her own to live in San Francisco, only a few miles from home. Spending several years in the famed "Haight Ashbury" district, she worked at a clinic there and pot-lucked with neighbors Carlos Santana, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. She loved it. She was in her element.....people!
Barb met Gary Everson in Santa Rosa in 1975. She moved to Santa Rosa and they were married July 28, 1978. She and Gary soon relocated to Tumwater, Washington, in 1978. They moved to Shelton for Gary's new job. Barbara worked in banking and in various medical offices locally.
Retired, they briefly moved to Texas to be close to their daughter Beth (Matt) and Barb's precious grandchildren, Eli, Melanie. In 2020, they moved back to Lacey, Washington.
Barb was a very social and kind person. She had a heart for people and especially for children. Barb always had a listening ear and her homemade chocolate chip cookies for anyone who needed it. She spent some of her favorite times at the Shelton Senior Activities Center, or having coffee with friends and visiting Barb and Gary's favorite "watering holes" where they made many friends and acquaintances. Barbara loved chatting with adults and children alike, whether in a restaurant, a store, or everywhere they went. Everyone Barbara touched was an instant friend. She was a generous gift giver and always remembered everyone's special days.
Barbara loved entertaining at home with delicious home cooked meals; decorative table settings and making people feel at home. She served everything from appetizers to desserts. Guest always left full and Barbara was left happy too!
Barbara is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary, parents Marilyn and Louis McCarthy, daughters Courtney (Dante), Beth (Matt) grandchildren, Eli, Melanie and soon-to be born Evan, brothers Jim (Linda), Paul (Aimee) and David, sisters, Kathy Cari, and Cheryl Brandon (Rick), and nieces, Taylor Olmedo (Tyler) great-nephews Calvin and Harrison Olmedo, Lauryn, Emilie Van Beek (Cody), Alyssa, Mackenzie and nephew Adam. She is predeceased by her greatly missed Grandparents, Gerald and Charlotte Titus.
At this time there is no memorial service planned. Anyone wishing to honor Barbara's giving spirit, please donate in her name to your favorite charity.
