Barbara E. Galka

Barbara E. (Wallick) (Kessler) Galka 88, joined her Lord in heaven on January 17, 2026 at her home, after sharing her final days with her loving family and friends.

Barb was born April 24, 1937 in York, PA. She was the daughter of Lorene (Lewis) Wallick and Urie Wallick. She was the wife of the late Joseph Galka.

Barb was a 1955 graduate of Central High School. She was a longtime member of Aldersgate Church and enjoyed being a part of several Bible studies. She was a bus driver for Spring Grove Schools, a secretary for Pediatric Care of York and most recently worked at the information desk at York Hospital until her retirement.

Barb was a woman of strong Christian faith who spent countless hours praying for her friends and large family. She had a great sense of humor and loved playing games, especially Scrabble. In her last years, her body failed her, but her good attitude, her desire to laugh and her delight in spending quality time with loved ones prevailed.

Barb is survived by her four daughters: Denise Yingling (Bruce), Vicki Poole (Ed), Sandy Herbst and Angie Taylor (Ron). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ryan Yingling (Katie), Erin Yingling, Shaun Herbst (Kristina), Landon Herbst (Sara), Megan Poole (Preston Litchfield), Michael Poole (Nicole Sherman), Isaac Taylor (Aspen Diodato), Ali Taylor, and Elijah Taylor (Sophia). She was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren. Barb is also survived by her brother Urie "Jim" Wallick and preceded in death by her sister Colleen Hoffman.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Barb on Saturday, January 31 at 11:00am at Aldersgate Church, 397 Tyler Run Rd, York, PA. All are welcome to join Barb's family for a time of sharing and community starting at 10:00am. A luncheon, at the church, will follow the service and all are welcome.
