Robert Kline Obituary
Born July 25, 1942, in Lewistown, PA, he was the son of the late Lester A. Kline and Lucy O. Kline (McNerlin). After graduating high school in 1961, Bob became a licensed barber working in the Harrisburg area. Starting in 1972, he worked in the trucking industry as a member of Teamsters Local 776 and retired from Consolidated Freightways' York Terminal in 2002.
Bob is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha "Marty" Jane (Kelley), one son: Robert A. Kline, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Mechanicsburg and two daughters: Jill K. Eyster and husband, Gary of Harrisburg and Jodi K. Grothe and husband, David of York, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Bob, aka Pappy, was blessed with a life filled with many enjoyable moments with family and friends. He liked conversation, outdoors, traveling, sports, attending family events, and spending time with his grandchildren in which he had much pride. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and truly enjoyed people. The family is very grateful for their time with Bob during the recent holidays noting that he was very joyful recounting many of God's wonderful blessings on his life with Marty calling to mind James 1:17, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning".
Bob was a member of The Hawk Gunning Club and The Viking Athletic Association; both of York. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and a faithful servant.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church located at 2215 Brandywine Lane in York, PA 17404. Visitation will be from 10-11 am, with the service beginning at 11 am; officiated by Rev. Kevin C. Stout. A reception will be held immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to, Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York, PA 17404.
