Barbara L. Garrett (nee Brown) died peacefully on January 27, 2026 at age 79. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mary Brown, and her brother-in-law, Jack Falck. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Nelson and Elizabeth (Bradford) Davis; sisters Bonnie Falck and Beverly (Dennis) Driskell and their families; and her grandchildren Milo, Emerson, Wesley, and Porter.

Barbara grew up in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati and attended Withrow High School, Class of 1965. She graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in music education and later received a Master’s Degree from Indiana University-Fort Wayne. Barbara loved two things above all else: her family and music. She loved singing and taught elementary music for many years in Decatur, IN and at St. Catherine School in Cincinnati (then Barbara Scott). She also served as an Activity Leader at Burlington House Alzheimer’s Care Center and was passionate about using music to improve the quality of life for residents with dementia. Her faith was strong and many church choirs benefited from her beautiful voice. She cherished being part of the Brown family and visiting her many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Rising Sun, IN. Her favorite hobbies were reading and hiking, especially in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. We will especially remember her joyfulness when spending time with her four beloved grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd., on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM.
