Barbara Ann Gillette, "Barb", a resident of New Haven, since she began working at Yale in 1955, who was born on March 24, 1931 in Ithaca, NY to the late Paul and Anita Wolff Gillette, passed on to her eternal reward in the early hours of March 19, 2022. Barb was a third generation Cornellian receiving both her BS and MS there in '53 and '54 respectively. In 1965 she was included in that year's volume of "Outstanding Young Women of America". She was a world traveler and enjoyed a physically active life, be it skiing, tennis, hiking, birding or gardening. Barb was an active member of New Haven's Church of The Redeemer choir and team of volunteers investing into lives throughout the community. She was a member of many other traveling choirs and her volunteerism also took her well beyond the borders of CT.
She is survived by her nephew, LCDR Gregg D. Gillette USN (ret), his wife Mary; her nieces, Vicki Cushing and Terri Gillette; many great-nieces and nephews; her step-nephew and two step-nieces. Predeceased by her brother, Paul Edwin Gillette; niece, Leslie LaBrie and a step-niece.
Her Funeral Services will be held at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, on Tuesday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. Barb will be laid to rest in her family plot at Lake View Cemetery, Ithaca, NY. To send a condolence to the family, please see obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com
