Barbara Ann Prince Gollihue, age 79, of Rush, Kentucky, peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the UK King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Born on September 20, 1945, in Oldtown, Kentucky, she was the beloved daughter of the late Vernon and Pearlie Wilburn Prince.

Barbara's life was marked by resilience and unwavering faith. She faced numerous challenges, including the loss of half a lung at the tender age of 13 due to double pneumonia and triumphing over breast cancer not once, but twice. Her strength and spirit were a testament to her character, and she inspired all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Martin; her second husband, Beecher C. Gollihue, with whom she shared 39 years of love and partnership until his passing in 2011; her son, James Gollihue; and two brothers, Vernon Reacel Prince and Arnold Prince.

A devoted member of Rush Baptist Church since 1987, Barbara served alongside her husband in the nursing home ministry, sharing the gospel through song and preaching. Her love for music was evident as she often sang specials at church, bringing joy to her congregation and community.

Barbara was small in stature but large in spirit, known for her warm heart and generous nature. She had a passion for cooking, delighting her family and friends with her famous chicken and dumplings and exceptional lemon pie. Her culinary skills were a source of comfort and joy, creating cherished memories around the dinner table.

Throughout her life, Barbara worked in various roles, including as a waitress at the Brown Derby Restaurant, at the card factory in Olive Hill, and as a dedicated housekeeper. Her work ethic and kindness left a lasting impression on those she encountered.

Barbara is survived by her loving daughter, Shannon Carter (Daniel) Slaughter of Rush; three cherished grandchildren, Jordan Leighann Smith, James Thomas Smith, and Isabella Danielle Slaughter; four sisters, Wanda M. Prince of Pikeville, Ella Faye Parker of Wilson Creek, Marie Bush, and Jean (Raymond) McGuire, both of Grayson; three brothers, Raymond (Karen) Prince of Oldtown, Delbert (Rhonda) Prince of Georgetown, and Elwood Prince of Flatwoods; as well as a host of extended family and friends who will deeply mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson, with Bro. Jerry Foster officiating. A private burial will follow in the Gollihue Family Cemetery off Terry Hollow in Rush. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the service hour on Monday.

In this time of sorrow, the family invites you to share your condolences and memories at www.malonefuneralhome.com. Barbara's legacy of love, faith, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
