David Ray Matney, age 66, of Olive Hill, KY, went home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2025. Born with a love for the open road and a heart full of faith, David lived his life doing what he loved-driving trucks, sharing God's word, and cherishing his family.
A proud truck driver, David found peace and purpose behind the wheel. The highway was his second home, and he often said he felt closest to God watching the sunrise from his rig. Wherever his journeys took him, he carried kindness, laughter, and a message of faith.
David was also a devoted member of New Beginnings West Ministry, where he found joy in fellowship and spreading the love of Jesus. His faith guided every step of his life and touched all who had the blessing of knowing him.
He is survived by his loving companion, Carol Santiago, and his seven children: Felicia (Bobby) Howard of Sandy Hook, KY; James M. "Coy" Matney of Ashland, KY; Tasha (Michael) Loudin of Versailles, KY; Shawn Matney of Versailles, KY, Carlos (Hilda) Santiago, Kristy (Yadier) Perez, and Cynthia Martin. David was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him endless pride and joy. And a brother, Kevin Matney of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his father, the late James Matney, his mother Janice Marie Matney, and two sisters, Mary Ann Wages and Effie Moore.
David's memory will live on through the countless lives he touched-with his faith, his stories from the road, and his unwavering love for family. Though his journey here has ended, his spirit rides on with the Lord, traveling heaven's highways where the road never ends.
