Barbara Goudy Obituary

Barb was a gentle soul with a quiet demeanor. She cared for everyone equally and unconditionally, always providing a safe, comfortable, and supportive home for her loved ones. Barb loved to travel the world, was able to outshop anyone brave enough to accompany her, and was a voracious reader. In her younger years, she was the treasurer of the Newark, OH Welcome Wagon Club, an active team member on several bowling leagues, and enjoyed playing cards with her women's Bridge Club. Her main focus later in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. Barb was the heartbeat and nurturer of the family, and will be so incredibly missed by all of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her children, Dr. James (Kathleen) Goudy of Galion, Greg (Kimberly) Goudy of Mount Vernon, and Kris (Todd) Conant of Mount Vernon, nine grandchildren, Katherine Goudy, Victoria (Joel) Saffel, Greg (Megan) Goudy Jr., Lara (Justin) Braun, Lindsey Conant, Erika Conant, Justin (Amanda) Boor, Jennifer (Jamie) Sexton, Jessica (Christopher) White, thirteen great grandchildren and her sister, June Magers of Galion.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Goudy whom she married on October 21, 1951, her siblings, Hoy Hulse, Wilma Johnson, Russell Hulse and Charles Hulse.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050 where a funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Barbara's name may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
