Barbara Greger Obituary
Barbara Greger was born March 15, 1936 in Seguin, Texas to King William and Rosa Lee Chessher Jackson. She had three brothers – Will, Gib and Wendell. Her parents and brothers have all preceded her in death.
After graduation from high school, Barbara worked at the Ford Dealership and met Raymond Greger, who was attending Texas Lutheran College. The two married November 30, 1957 and moved to Corpus Christi so Raymond could finish college at the University of Corpus Christi. Raymond's first coaching job took them to Lubbock and they moved back to Flour Bluff in 1967.
Raymond and Barbara were blessed with two children; Shane in 1958 and Diana in 1961. Shane died from an aneurysm in 1976 and Diana died in 2021.
In 1980, working side by side, Barbara helped Raymond lovingly and diligently design and construct their home.
Barbara retired from her banking career in 1990. A year later Raymond retired and they enjoyed an idyllic life fishing and volunteering at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Flour Bluff, for which she planned and organized many successful fundraisers. In 2014 they sold their home and moved to Rosebud, Texas where they were closer to Raymond's family. In Rosebud they made many new friends and were active in St. Ann's Catholic Church and community until Raymond's death in 2018.
Through the years, Barbara loved sewing and crafts; she painted okra Santas and made time-out dolls, but her pride and passion were the fabric cutout cards she designed and created for her friends and to sell at fundraisers. She had a green thumb and loved gardening and tending her many plants and flowers on her patio.
Barbara had a generous, resourceful, ambitious, steadfast, independent, determined, talented spirit and will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews.
If desired, memorials may be made to St. Ann Catholic Church Ceiling Fund in Rosebud (85 Church Avenue, Burlington, Texas, 76519).
Rosary will be recited at 9:30am Saturday, July 27th at St. Ann Catholic Church in Rosebud followed by a Mass at 10:00 with Rev. Rito Davila and Deacon Charlie Wright officiating. Visitation and meal will follow at St. Ann parish hall. Burial will be at a later date following cremation.
