Barbara Jo Gunville (Cook), beloved Wife, Mother, and Memaw slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday February 11, 2025, surround by family.
She was born March 28, 1948, in Los Angeles, California to Billy Joe and Johnnie Bernice Cook (Allen).
She grew up in Sherman, TX. Barbara married the love of her life, Walter (Butch) Gunville in 1968. She was a business owner for many years and eventually retired from Sherman Independent School District. She always had a book in her hand and could be found playing bingo anytime they were open. Her greatest joy in life was being a mother. Her grandchildren were her life's passion and was always present in the stands. She will be missed by everyone she ever met.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Billy Joe and Johnnie Bernice Cook, sister Cheryl Yancey, and brother Michael Cook. Barbara is survived by her husband Butch Gunville of Sherman, TX, daughter Gina Gunville of Sherman, TX, daughter Tanya and husband Chris Dudley of Pottsboro, TX, son DJ and wife Carrie Gunville of Broken Arrow, OK. Grandchildren Josh Glover of McKinney, TX, Tanner and Barrett Dudley of Pottsboro, TX. Brother Billy Carl Cook, favorite aunt Wilma Overby, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and her cherished fur baby Thor.
We will join to celebrate her life Wednesday February 19th, at Fisher Funeral Home 5pm-7pm.
